The Search

The search begins by working with the Client Company to define the exact scope of the open position and the qualifications of the ideal candidate. A specification is jointly developed detailing the responsibilities of the position to be filled. It is overlaid with our knowledge of current executive marketplace conditions and salary levels. In addition, the client’s long-term strategy, managerial goals and leadership expectations are taken into account. Our client helps us develop an understanding of such factors as corporate objectives, culture, style of management, and leadership development needs. This review allows us to be knowledgeable and persuasive in representing our clients in discussions with candidates.

In conducting the search, we conduct our own research relying upon our accumulated knowledge and experience and relationship with key sources in various fields to identify potential candidates. Executive movement in the industries we serve is continually monitored. Materials compiled from prior searches relevant to the one that we are about to undertake are carefully reviewed and used when possible to expedite a search.

Outstanding companies in the industry segments, likely to produce the best candidates, are targeted. Executives who are contributing significantly to the success of these companies are identified. This study is augmented by the confidential suggestions of executives who are well known to us and whose judgment has been superb in the past. Our career-spanning relationship with these executives produces a higher quality slate of candidates.

Maintaining client confidentiality, we personally contact all qualified individuals who emerge from our research to explore their interest and qualifications for the position. We maintain close contact with the client to review progress and to learn of any updates in the job specifications or changes in the qualifications for the successful candidate.

We interview the best candidates to assess personal and professional qualifications. The most qualified candidates are introduced to our client along with full biographical data. We help with interview scheduling and contact both the client and candidate for debriefing and feedback after an interview. Our services can include travel arrangements and reimbursement of travel expenses.

A thorough reference check on the selected candidate is made to verify qualifications and a written report is provided to the client. We assist in compensation negotiations and can pre close the candidate before the client presents a formal offer. Upon completion of the search we can, if requested, support the new executive’s successful integration onto the client’s team.
